Undergone Laproscopic Surgery For Cyst In Ovary. On Duphanston Tablets. Weight Gain. Is It A Side Effect?
HI,
I am 42 years of old.My first delivery was in Marc 1996 and second one is in December 2010.After the delivery my period was not regular,it was coming every 2 weeks duration for about 7 months .I consulted a doctor ,she told there is a cyst(size:10 CM) on my left overy. So I have undergone a laproscopic surgery and they removed left overy and cyst in August 2011.Still I am having the same problem.Doctor told me to take Duphanston tablet for the last 8 months. If I take this medicine my period was normal. Before taking this table my weight is 65 KG.Now I am 70 KG.Weight is increasing because of this tablet. Please give me a reply whether I need to take this medicine permanently and what are the other side effects. Thanks, Shakeela Shibu
Hormonal pills are needed to regularize the cycles. After using for few months possibly the hormonal levels in the body will get corrected. So you stop the tablets now and observe whether your cycles are becoming regular or not. And also you have to do exercise to maintain ideal body weight to your height. This helps in regularization of the cycles. Taking nutritious diet, avoiding fast foods, excess oil etc. are needed.
