Unprotected Sex After Taking Contraceptive Pills, Missing Periods, Negative Pregnancy Tests. Advise?
hi, please i need to know if pregnancy can occur if i had unprotected sex an hour after taking emergency contraceptive pills. I felt the pills i had taken would kinda protect me all through the day but i think am pregnant because my menstral period didnt come which is so unusaul as i usually have a regular and consistent mentrals flow. But from the urine test i did, it saying am not pregnant, so am confused, really need ur advise. freaking out here already
Emergency contraceptive pills act by various mechanisms such as preventing ovulation and fertilization and by increasing the cervical plug to prevent the entrance of sperms.
Haven taken the emergency contraceptive pill one hour prior to intercourse, it is less likely to have had a pregnancy given the above mechanisms and that emergency pills protects against pregnant if taken for up to 72 hours after intercourse.
The absence of menses is likely a side effect of the pill which causes hormonal imbalance. However, though its less likely you could be pregnant, you should re do the pregnancy test in a week's time.
Best regards.

Hello
As you didnt mention that when was your menses due date,
And after how many days you have done the pregnancy test. becouse urine pregnancy test takes about two week to become positive.
so if it was too early than you should go for repeat pregnancy test.
some time physiological prolongation of menses also occures
ok
take care
