Unprotected Sex During Periods. Taken I Pill. Any Chance Of Pregnancy And Infection?
hi doctor, i had unprotected sex on the night of the 1st day of my periods. my partner ejaculated inside me, but i washed it immediately. i also took an i pill in the very next morning. i am scared of the other side effects like infections etc caused due to such intercourse. how do i avoid it? what precautions should i take now? and what are the chances of pregnancy?
I understand your fear of getting pregnant. Nobody really wants to deal with pregnancy especially when they are not ready for.
There is virtually no chances of getting pregnant during your menses. This is because, there is no egg for any fertilisation to ever take place at this time.
My advice is, please always consider having protected sex. It also prevents against sexually transmitted infection beside unwanted pregnancy. You may also want to talk to your doctor so as to get more information on the various contraceptive means and which may be best for you to avoid such similar panics in future.
As for infections, you need to get tested to determine whether you have any. The better option however is for you to always get protected sex.
Hope this answers your question and provides useful advice that you can act on in future. I wish you good health. Dr. Ditah, MD.
Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, You had unprotected sex on first day of your period, normally there is no chance of pregnancy as it is safe period, as ovulation takes place approximately 14 days prior to expected date of period. You took i Pill which is not required in such case. In case of unprotected sex there is always risk of infection if your partner is infected of proper hygiene is not maintained. You should not worry about pregnancy but if you have any symptoms of discharge, fever, burning in micturition and any eruptions or ulcer then consult the Gynecologist for needful. Please practice safe sex as it prevents both unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Take care. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
