Using Sotret And Benzoic Acid For Acne. Brown Patch On Chin, Dryness. Help

hii... suffering from acne since very long.. but latest i started using sotret 20mg with ointment benzoic acid 2.5% since last 3-4 days. but now itz getting worse i had develpoed a brown colour patch with 4-5 more acne sopt near chin which seems likea burn skin with too much dryness!!! plzzz help me out.. in a great need!!!!!

Hi,

thanks for writing to health care magic.

Both sotret and benzyl peroxide have good results in acne.But both have a tendency to cause dryness and peeling of skin.This has caused dryness of your skin.

Sotret is photosensitive drug and sun exposure during its course can cause allergic reaction and sun burn.

Also there may be flare up of acne in initial course ..

Take sotret at night and apply benzyl peroxide at night only.Use a sunscreen at day time.Avoid harsh soaps ,use a moisturizers if there is too much dryness.You can apply a mild steroid like hydrocortisone over brown patch for few days only.
