Using Ovulation Kit For Period Problems. Slight Increase In Hormone Levels But Is It Still In Normal Range?

th Hi, my daughter saw her OB/GYN last week for the first time for an initial consult. She has had problems with her periods so had been using an ovulation kit. On going to see the Dr. he asked usual questions about date and going off this my daughters pregnancy was not at the stage it should be. However as she was watching and using a kit she know when she ovulated which was the 19th Dec, her last period was the 24th Nov. He then asked her to go and take blood tests to measure the hormone level. The result show it is not increasing as he would like. She has gone from 2500 to 3700 in 40 hours. I still think this is in normal range but he is worrying her sick. Going off her ovulation date is she still in normal range?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.

Please provide the following details -
1. Last menstrual period.
2. Normal length of menstrual cycles.
3. Probable date of ovulation
4. Earliest pregnancy ultrasound and the report.
5. Dates of the blood B HCG tests done so far with the values.
Normally within 48 hours, the B HCG values should more than double.
Without having the information requested for, it is very difficult for me to offhand comment on such an important query.
Meanwhile, rather than relying on blood tests, it is best to rely on early pregnancy ultrasound
If a normal fetus with a heartbeat is visualized, all is well.
There is no need to worry.
Will look forward to hearing from you soon.
All the best.
