Variable Results Of CA125 Tests Due To Ovarian Mass. What Is The Reason For The Difference?
I have a mass in my ovary so my gynecologist ordered a CA125 which came back elevated at 226. I have referred to oncology. I was very concerned so I paid out of pocket for another CA125 done by my primary doctors office and it came back in range at 9. I am waiting for my appointment with the oncologist. I don't understand the huge difference in the two test? I am full of anxiety after researching online.
CA125 is done to rule out malignancy however its levels can also be raised in few benign conditions. 226 is highly raised. The difference in the reports could be either of the labs has not given correct results so I advise you to talk to your oncologist and repeat the test again and also take into consideration your complaints, size of ovary and age into consideration and proceed.
