Warm Tingling Down Left Arm And Chest With Burning Sensation In Abdomen, Elevated BP. On Bactrim For Sinus Infection. Thoughts?
I am experiencing a warm tingling down left arm and chest. I have a burning sensation in my upper abdomen. My blood pressure is elevated to 124/80 pulse at 85. I don't have diabetes, high bp, or any other medical conditions. I'm currently on bactrim (?) for a sinus infection. I've been in the emergency room before for similar reasons, but I only leave with a bill, no real answers despite blood work, xrays, and an ekg. Any insight would be most welcome. This is a very scary feeling to have to endure.
It is understandable to be distressed. The normal chest x rays and ECG means that is unlikely that the pain is related to the heart or lungs.
The fact that it is burning in nature suggests that it may be neuralgia. This is pain or abnormal sensations related to abnormal function or structure of the nerves.
This can occur for a variety of reasons including vitamin or mineral deficiency, nerve compression by a mass or bone, herpes zoster, diabetes, kidney disease, infections, trauma.
It would normally be treated by addressing the particular cause and also medications. Examples of medications used include lyrica, gabapentin, tegretol, amitriptyline.
I hope this helps
