Was In Accident. EKG Showed Right Bundle Branch Block. Have PCOS. Related?
Hello. I was just in a car accident because I passed out at the wheel and collided with another car. No one was injured. I was taken to the hospital and they performed an EKG, which showed a right bundle branch block repeatedly. They released me later as I promised to see my primary and I still had the same abnormality. I also have poly cystic ovarian syndrome and I was wondering if it is connected to this new heart problem.
Dear sir / Madam Welcome to HCmagic. A right bundle branch block (isolated, with no other abnormality on EKG) is an electrical variant present in EKG. This may or may not be associated with a structural or functional heart abnormality. More commonly it is a normal variant. If your clinical examination of heart is normal and your x-ray chest shows no abnormality, the possibility of this being a normal variant is very high. However in case of any abnormality in examination or chest x-ray, you should undergo an ECHO. Needless to say , you should undergo a clinical examination and x-ray chest. Hope it clarifies the issue. Feel free to discuss further. Sincerely Sukhvinder singh
Thanks for your questions. Your story is very concerning, and probably until a specific cause for your syncope (loos of consciousness) is found, you should abstain from driving. Strictly, I don't think that polycystic syndrome is asscociated with the right bundle branch block, but could be associated with overweight, obesity and these in turn with obstructive sleep apnea, which may cause someone to pass out behind the wheel. I would advise you to visit a cardiologist, since the main thing that we need to rule out is a cardiac cause of syncope, given that there is at least a minor electrical abnormality of the heart at rest (right bundle).
Hope this is helpful, wish you the best, blessings
