Was Taking Losartan And Bystolic Prescribed For High Blood Pressure. Do I Have To Consume Both?

Hi..I was taking losartan 100/25and bystolic 20mg.prescribed by a heart specialist..for over a year...I noticed my pressure went down substantially. Today I needed more meds..so my reg. Dr. Said that the amount I was taking was too much..now he just got me on bystolic 5mg. My pressure can go up160/100 or 155/99..I feel that the bystolic alone especially bystolic 5mg. Will be enough to stablize my pressure..Please help with advice... Mischelle

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Most people need more than one drug to control the pressure - acting by different mechanisms, they help at lower doses… The maximal dose of losartan is 100 mg and the pressure is still high – you will need a second drug…
The dose has to be tailored to individual requirements
Abrupt reduction of bystolic from 20 to 5 mg may be the reason for shoot up /discuss with your doctor and up the dose to 10 mg and check again

Good luck
Take care
Wishing all well
God bless
