Chest pain is a signal that your heart is not receiving sufficient oxygen. heart is supplied with oxygen through blood. blood is distributed to the entire heart muscle by 4 arteries (pipes :) ), called coronary arteries. if one of this artery gets narrowed or thicked, than the heart muscle (myocardium) is starved from oxygen and suffers a loss of function. Untreated, the process may lead to heart attack. The main cause which may lead to such unwanted events, accompanied by chest pain are: * smoking * CHD (Coronary Heart Disease) * Atherosclerosis * Blood Pressure * Stress If you want more answes, I use to write more on chest pain and heart attacks on my site at www.allheartattack.com If the chest pains are persistent, I suggest you to contact your doctor immediately and ask for a heart investigation.
