What Adverse Impact Will Flu Have During Pregnancy?

Goodevening doc,
I am five weeks and one day pregnant, and i have been down with the flu for the last 4 days with temperatures between 37.4 to 37.8 C. I am worried that this would have adversely affected the feral development as this is such a crucial stage. Would an internal scan in the next few days be helpful to rule out any adverse impact ? Any advice would be appreciated. with many thanks and regards Worried mum

Hi my dear,

Please relax. Usually, pregnant ladies like you are more prone to flu as their immunity is down as compared to others.

Hopefully, nothing bad will happen to the fetal development of your baby. I want to remind not to take O.T.C flu pills as they might cause damages to the fetal development.

You can take only acetaminophen (paracetamol) with vitamin C and linden and/or chamomile tea.

Rest more and drink more water until the next appointment with your doctor.

All the best to both of you!
