What And Why Is There A Jelled Substance On My Eye?

I wear contacts. Last night I felt like I had a piece of hair above my contact. Took out contacts and could not remove what felt like a hair. Was able to see something. My husband looked and saw a jelled substance on my eye. He said it looked raised a bit. I can still see it this morning. I am letting my eye rest. I did put in sailine drops last night. What is this and why did it happen?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are wearing contact lenses and having complaint of presence of jelled substance in the eye.
This can be a mucus plug on the cornea. It is because of irritation to the cornea as a result of contact lenses.
The treatment is by use of lubricating eye drops.

Thank you
