What Are Chances Of Recovery After Surgery For Prolapsed Disc?

hello doc my daughter is young and has acute back problem as she has a prolapsed disc pressing against a nerve. If she gets it operated what r her chances of recovery and our doc has advised to use a spacer to save the other bulged disc between l5 and sacral joint please advise
