What Are Effects Of Taking Or Not Taking Synthroid?

I just got told my tsh was 31.5 I used to take synthyroid but quit 5 yrs ago didn t notice any change What will taking or not taking this med help I feel good no different when taking this medication. Would this have any thing to do with severe cramps in hands etc

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Your TSH is high. You need to increase the dose of thyroxine (synthroid) till the TSH is brought down to 3.

The muscle cramps may be related to hypothyroidism or it could be vitamin D deficiency.
