What Are Extremely Itchy Rashes Around The Midline Of The Body Suggestive Of?

Hi. I am experiencing an itchy rash right down the midline of the front and back. It seems to be spreading slowly, and shingles came to mind. It is not painful, but extremely itchy. I am 75, and had chicken pox as a child. I am away from my primary doctor right now, going home in a couple of weeks. Do you think I should see someone local. It is not agonizing, only very odd to be rubbing between my breasts and up my back all the time. I have tried peroxide, also anti-inflammatory topical, which helps. Also just came off six weeks of PT for a bad knee, using antiinflammatory for this also.

Hello,

The rashes if appeared after intake of anti inflammatory medicines, then side effect of the same should be of primary concern. If that is not the case, Zoster manifestation due to past history of chicken pox and if it is involving only one side of the body only. Local application of calamine lotion will give best soothing relief with tablet cetirizine or else for itching control. Do consult your doctor at earliest for further guidelines.
