What Are Fever, Tightness In The Chest And Fatigue In A Teenager Suggestive Of?

My 14 year old son has a 100. degree fever along with other symptoms. He says that it is hard to breath, it feels like there is a brick on his chest. Has slept most of the day away. Should i take him to make sure that he does not have Pneumonia since he has had a history of it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an upper respiratory tract infection. Consult a pediatrician and get the child evaluated. Most probably antibiotics have to be started.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
