What Are High Fever, Facial Edema, Rashes On Body With Unresponsiveness Suggestive Of?

I have a friend whose teenage daughter was admitted today to the ICU. She woke up with a fever of 104, facial edema, swelling in her back, rash over her body, unresponsive, but she had a pulse and was breathing. So far they cant find out what is wrong with her. They say her condition is declining and vs are not stable. Prior to this she was completely healthy. Lost for words, just don t knowwhat this could be.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it seems to be due to septicemia, or viral rash with systemic infection or septic shock.

Blood cultures, blood counts, renal and liver functions to rule out multi-organ involvement should be done as well as ICU management, with broad-spectrum antibiotics and shock management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
