What Are Itchy Rashes On Cheek, Nose And Eyelids Suggestive Of?

My daughter has developed a rash on her face. It is mainly the left cheek, nose, and eyelid. It does not itch and it has not seemed to spread. We noticed it Friday morning. We cannot think of anything that would have caused it (change in soap, hair products, etc) I have given her 2 doses of Benadryl (just in the evenings) but have seen no change.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The rash can be allergic or due to viral infection.

If it is due to viral infection, no treatment is necessary and it will reduce and disappear on its own in 7-10 days as body's immunity will take over.

However, if it is due to allergy and not coming under control with benadryl, you can give her Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. It is more effective than benadryl in controlling allergic reactions.

If, in case, the rash does no disappear after a week to 10 days, a clinical examination and investigations by dermatologist are advised.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your daughter feels better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
