General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Generally, having intercourse during the time of periods has less chances of becoming pregnant as it is not considered as a fertile period. This is true if your periods are regular. Some times, having intercourse during the time when periods are expected to begin could post-pone the appearance of periods almost by a week.
Since you had spotting following unprotected intercourse, it is likely that your periods could have been scanty this time.
In any case, you need to wait till you get your next periods. In case you want to indulge in sexual activities, you need to take protection by using spermicides and condoms.
If your periods are delayed by a week, kindly take a urine pregnancy test and consult Gynecologist promptly for evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
