What Are Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Tongue And Lips Suggestive Of?
I have a numb tingly tongue and lips on the left side. Nausea. Dizziness and headache. Pressure. I am a healthy 40 yo woman with excellent cholesterol levels, low resting heart rate, low bp(usually - hasn t Been checked since symptoms started 2 days ago. I have been taking aspirin last 24 hours.
Based on the history given you seem to have had a transient ischemic attack (TIA). It occurs when part of the brain experiences a temporary lack of blood flow. This causes stroke-like symptoms that resolve within 24 hours.
Since symptoms of a TIA and a stroke are nearly identical, you are advised to visit the hospital immediately for further evaluation and treatment.
You may be asked to undergo certain tests like ECG, CT scan or Carotid doppler to evaluate and to find out the cause of TIA.
You also need to have certain lifestyle changes such as
1. Don’t smoke. 2. Avoid secondhand smoke. 3. Eat a healthy diet with more fruits and vegetables. 4. Maintain a healthy weight. 5. Exercise regularly and reduce stress. 6. Avoid alcohol, etc.
Hope the advice given above would be useful.
