What Are Painful Lumps On Lower Back Near The Buttocks Suggestive Of?

Hi there I have lumps to the left of my spine on my lower back just where it meets my buttock. I have discomfort and pain sometimes. I ve been putting frankincense on it and it takes the edge off. Is this a cyst or maybe a tension lump? How could I tell? Thank you.

Hi.

If it hurts to touch and possibly is warmer in the skin over the region, this could be an abscess which is common in the region. But if it is a cluster of boils, then it requires a visual examination by a doctor to confirm or rule out various causes like shingles, carbuncle, etc.

For now, go about a warm compress and if it does not show signs or regression in about 5-7 days, then report to a doctor.

Best wishes.
