What Are Recurring Itchy Sores On Back And Arms Suggestive Of?

I have these sores that appear on my back and arms, which burn and itch, I scratch them to relieve the pressure then they bleed. This has been going on for sometime, my primary care has had me on 4 rounds of antibiotics and says it could be mercer or cellulitis, I m now being referred to a Dermatologist, but what is causing this?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurring itchy sores on back and arms which could be due to hives, allergic reaction of body and due to compromised immunity of body. Need not to worry. You should give cold compresses and avoid touching or pricking them with sharp object. You should start with antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged period. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms, so above treatment should be taken after consultation of your dermatologist with proper examination and rule out conditions like psoriasis and eczema . You may take Vitamin C and apply calamine lotion on the rashes.
