What Are Red, Itchy Welts On Neck From Which Liquid Comes Out?

I have red, itchy welts on my neck and a few of them have this clear liquid coming out them. At first they started out like a white head and then progressed into those red itchy welts. What do you think they are and what can I do about it? I am 44 yrs old and I am pretty sure they shouldn t be pimples. Thank You T.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Do you have any past history of allergic disease like eczema? From your description, this can be a seborrheic dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. For such cases, I used to give topical steroids like fluticasone or beclometasone or their combination with antibiotics like fusidic acid in cases with superimposed infection. Itching will respond to antihistamines like levocetirizine 5mg taken once daily for 5 days. Your doctor will guide you. Meanwhile keep the are clean and dry to avoid secondary infection

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
