What Are Sharp Pain In Lower Abdomen And Lower Leg During Periods Suggestive Of?

I am a 30 year old female. I have been having bright red menstrual bleeding since Tuesday of last week. In the past 2 days I have had a sharp, pinching pain in my lower right abdomen. I am also having some minor discomfort running down my right leg in relation with my lower abdomen pain. I m not sure if these are just normal menstrual cramping or something serious?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a physician and plan for an ultrasound.

We have to rule out possible causes like renal colic.

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
