What Are Side Effects Of Metformin For Infertility?

My doctor has prescribed me to take metformin for infertility treatments. I have been doing a lot of reading and have a few concerns. First, I read that once I start taking the medication I have to continue taking it forever. Also if I do become pregnant can it affect the baby and will I have to take the medication during pregnancy?
