What Are Spreading Rashes On Abdomen, Elbows And Back Of Hands Suggestive Of?
I am a 50 yo female in good health, 5 3 117 lbs. I just had a physical 2 months ago and everything was great. My blood work was perfect. About 4 weeks ago I got a small rash on my abdomen. I thought it was an allergic reaction to a belt buckle. I have very sensitive skin and I can not even wear a watch with a buckle or a get a rash on my wrist. I still have the rash on my abdomen but I now also have it on both elbows and the back of both hands. Today it showed up on both of my thighs, along with 2 bruises. Ive tried everything to get rid of it. The itching is driving me nuts plus it looks awful. Tonight I was thinking about when it started. My daughter and I decided to remodel an older house for her. We ripped up the carpet and found that it was glued to old linoleum which was glued to the hardwood floors underneath. The glue is dry and powdery. I am now thinking that could have started this entire mess. Please tell me what I can do to get rid of this rash and relieve the constant itching. Thank you!!!!!!!!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
In diabetes with jaundice, giving more carbohydrates to help liver activity increases jaundice rather than decrease it. So permissible bit of compound carbohydrates served in easily digestible form, skinless fruits with less glycemic index along with vitamin C is to be managed with a dietitian's consultation. Physicians tend to have sugar control with calculated dose & form of insulin. Metformins are stopped and after 10 days trial, other anti-diabetics may be added to the drug regime as per need. Mostly jaundice & blood sugar both are controlled under the able care of a gastroenterologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
