What Are Stiff Neck, Headache, Shaky Arms And Legs With Palpitations Suggestive Of?

Hi my son is 23 and hasn t been feeling well. He had stiff neck, headache , week/shaky arm and legs, some rapid heart beat /palpitations ,very tired all the time just wore out he had blood work done the only thing that came back a little high was his uric acid so the dr put him on gout meds, but he has no other symptoms for gout. I talked the Dr in to taking a lyme test, the first test came back positive so they did the western blot the only band that was reactive is band 41 KD (Igg) band they said the lymes was neg .He finished 30 days of doxi and still feels the same, not sure where to go from here

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your son are indicative of Lyme disease. Visit ER, let him be physically examined for the rashes.

His tests for Lyme disease is positive so he should have the symptomatic treatments started.

Let him continue to take the medication to control high uric acid. Western blot test comes to be positive only when the Lyme disease has affected the CNS. If it is negative it means CNS is not yet affected.

Let the treatment for Lyme disease gets started at the earliest to avoid the worsening of the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
