What Are Symptoms Of Herpes 2?

As a child, I always had a cold sore at least once a year. As an adult now at 35, I learned that it is Herpes 1. I have been married to the same man over 15 years and I believe I performed oral sex on him during times when my sore was almost healed. Does that mean I now have herpes 2? I feel horrible. All my life I thought a cold sore was just that. My husband always showers after oral sex.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Herpes simplex type 1 infection usually occur in and around mouth and nose and occasionally transmitted to genitals as sexual route (oral sex) whereas Genital Herpes or Herpes type2 infection can never be transmitted to places other than in and around genitals and anus.
Type 1 can not become a type 2 infection just by having a oral sex.
Type 2 Herpes , just like Type 1 infection would manifest with prodromal tingling sensation over genitals followed by grouped tiny vesicles which subsequently leads to tiny grouped ulcers, usually self limiting and heal with or without specific treatment within a week or two.
