What Are The Adverse Effects Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency On Fertility Rate?

Hello, I am 27 year old. I met with an accident and when I visited the doctor, he looked at my nuckles, elbow, and foot digits and said they appear pigmented, may be due to B12 deficiency and advised me to go for a B12 test and to my surprise, I found the levels to be low at 171 and then my doctor put me on vitcofol 2 ml injections every 3 days for 15 injections and then he said he will put me on some oral medications. I am planning to conceive, please suggest if this deficiency leads to infertility and if these medications will permanently treat the deficiency. Thank you in advance for your kind suggestions!

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..
Vit B12 deficiency will not effect the fertility directly but while deficient if you become pregnant the required nutrients to the baby will not be there...
Take the supplements till your levels become normal and then plan for pregnancy..
Afterwards also make sure to include foods rich in vit B12 into your diet.
If you are a strict vegetarian you need to take supplements for a longer time..
Hope this information helps you..Will be available for further queries..
Take care...
