What Are The Adverse Effects Of Tampon Left In For 2 Weeks?

Hi I left a tampon in for 2 weeks unknowingly and recently found it and took it out and went and got checked out. The doctor said I dont have any odor and no infection. He took swabs and a ultrasound. Im just wondering how it is possible to not have a infection or horrible odor since it was in for so long and I had sex as well!?

Hi,
I understood your concern.
Tampon left in vagina for 2 weeks is hazardous from point of view of the consequences.
Normally it is used while menstruating. Blood being a very good media for bacterias to grow,it's likely to cause fulminating infection with foul odor, discharge, pain in lower abdomen & back, fever!
Fortunately in your case there must not be any vaginal bleeding and admirable vaginal hygiene/ Sexual higyne of both partners/ without a spot of white discharge! That's why it could be bacteriologically sterile & without any side effects!
* but mind well, the same luck may not follow every time. Tampon must be cleared out every time you use it.Or forgetful ladies should not use tampon.
Thanks.
