What Are The Birth Defects For The Baby When On Oxycodone And Paracetamol?
Hi, i recently found out i was pregnant very early in the first trimester, i am concerned as i have chronic neck pain from a mva 9months ago and i have been taking Oxycodone 5-10mg for pain relief PRN. I do not take it every day, i take approx 5-10mg dose every third day at night. I have currently stop taking all pain relief apart from paracetamol. i Am concerned about possible birth defects for the baby.
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. You should consult a gynaecologist and get your ultrasonography test done to rule out any birth defect in baby. In first trimester you should avoid to take any medication because foetal organ formation occurs in this period. Paracetamol is as such safe in pregnancy. If no birth defect in ultrasonography you can continue your pregnancy under supervision of a gynaecologist. I think I have answered your query If you have further questions I will be happy to help you. Good luck. Regards Dr. Richa
