What Are The Blisters On Wrist After Surgery Where They Put Plates?
my husband had surgery last friday for a broken wrist. they put a plate and 6 pins in. yesterday we discovered a spot on his hand that we thought was a blister from the brace. Now he has spots all up his arm. they are raised and almost feel like mini blisters in clusters. Could this be infection?
This is Dr. Sridhar and I shall be answering your question.
Well, from what you have described, it certainly appears to me that your husband has acquired an infection of his skin at the operation site. There are several reasons for this such as poor hygiene and dressing of operation site, low immunity of your husband etc.
I'd strongly advice you to visit his treating doctor and get the skin lesions examined and investigated. If I were your treating doctor and if it indeed an infection, I'd:
1. Prescribe an antibiotic course. 2. Ensure proper cleaning and dressing of the affected site. 3. Chalk out a good nutritive diet.
Kindly visit your treating doctor at the earliest.
Hope I've answered your query. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt. If not, you may close the discussion and rate my answer.
Wish your husband good health. With regards, Dr. Sridhar
