What Are The Causes And Medications For Frequent Chills In Elderly?

About every 2-3months my husband experiences a sudden onset of severe chills with uncontrollable shaking. He always has a fever and severe aching. After giving him aspirin or Tylenol and the fever breaks, he feels fine. The chills and shaking can last a couple of hours. Any ideas of what can be causing this? He is 66yr and not on any medication.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that he might be having some chronic infection like chronic urinary tract infection or infection in his prostate.
Consult Urologist and get examined.
He may require,
X-ray chest,
ultra sound of abdomen,
routine urine check up,
CBC ( complete blood checking ).
Ok and take care.
