What Are The Chances Of STD Transmission When On Medication For Chlamydia?

Hello. I ve been taking Doxycycline Hyclate for Chlamydia for the past two weeks as of today. While taking the medication I ve had protected sex with my partner who s clear. Should I be scared I can still have the STD since I ve had sex 2with a condom and last night without a condom(my last pill ends today). Should my boyfriend and i make a doctor s appointment??

Dear user

The CDC usually recommends the regimens for treating chlamydia infection with Doxycycline 100 mg by mouth twice daily for 7 days.

Abdication from sexual intercourse is recommended during treatment and for 7 more days following the last day of antibiotic treatment.

Based on your introduction, I strongly suggest that your boyfriend should be checked for chlamydia infection.

Good luck!

Dr. Elton
