What Are The Chances Of A Mass In Lung Being Cancerous?

I had 2 surgeries 7 weeks ago which removed my left upper lobe, surrounding lymph nodes, and upper part of lower left lobe; lung cancer. They believed they got it all. This week I had 4 full body scans and the CT showed a new 7mm mass at the bottom of my remaining left lung. They are not sure what it is but it concerns me. They will scan it again in 3 months to see if it has changed. It has appeared quickly just as the original cancer did. I worry it may be back.

Hi,

Though it is a possibility, especially with a history of lung cancer, many people have small nodules in their lungs that are benign. The follow up scan in 3 months is necessary and will guide any further management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
