What Are The Chances Of Babies Being Born Healthy?
Hi, I am currently 31 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins and at my 24 week u/s my OB told me there was an excess amount of amniotic fluid around each baby. She told me that it was too early to worry but I worry anyway. I had a 28 week u/s but haven t seen her yet to find out the results but do know the fluid was still in excess as the tech mentioned it. I have a 30 week u/s tomorrow and am scheduled to see my OB this week. I have been told that anatomy wise the babies look good. I have had the GD testing and passed. I also did IPS testing and one baby had a 1/6500 risk of abnormality and the other was 1/9500 risk so no further testing was requested (amnio). Just wondering what you think the chances of the babies being born healthy are? I understand that there are more risks to me during delivery but hopefully everything will be ok. Thanks for your time.
Hi, I have gone through your question. More fluid around the foetus can be due to many causes like: 1. Any anomaly in the fetus 2. Gestational diabetes mellitus 3. Twin to twin transfusion syndrome, but in this condition the fluid is more around one fetus only. 4. Idiopathic( no cause found) Since the fetal anatomy is normal and blood glucose levels are within normal range, you need not to worry. I would suggest you to take rest, avoid heavy work and report to doctor whenever you feel slightest pain or leaking. Be assured that your babies are normal Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health.
