What Are The Chances Of Cancerous Cell Presence After Abdominal Hysterectomy?
I had abdominal hysterectomy which removed uterus, cervix and ovaries. I am 55 year old, healthy, postmenaupausal femaile. Operation was successful, there was no spread outside uterus. The size was about 7.5 pounds! I am waiting for my pathology report from Brigham and Women s hospital. What if they discover cancerous cells in the pelvic mass, what would be the treatment? What to expect from the pathology report? I am very nervous and expect it in the next few days. Thank you! Lana I might wait and call the hospital tomorrow. Thank you.
I can understand your concern. The period between the biopsy and its results is always stressful to the patient. I am sorry you have to go through this. But think about it this way:
If there are no cancerous cells, then you have nothing to worry about, while if it comes positive for cancerous cells, tjwn there are so many recent treatment modalities like radiotherapy, chemotherapy that are not as scary as they were in old times and they do provide good quantity and quality life. So do not worry excessively about that, too.
I hope this amswer helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you good luck for the report! I would be happy to answer any follow up questions. Take care.
