Dr. I have recently done my blood test for my overseas job n I got the result with TPHA positive but I didn t have any sex with other women except my wife in my life. And my wife also done the test, the result is Negative. There is any other possible way to have this TPHA? I need recommended doctor from Chennai to take treatment pls help me. My mob 0000.
Hi, Welcome to HCM. You are TPHA positive, but what about the RPR or VDRL test? That will reveal the intensity or the age of the disease and also helps to cross check the reliability of TPHA test. TPHA is a specific test for Syphilis. If it is positive in the absence of any extramarital exposure, we can think of three possibilities: 1. Technical error (labeling, test procedure or expression). Better to repeat the test in some other laboratory. 2. Congenital Syphilis acquired from your parents (rare). 3. Syphilis acquired through blood transfusion during sometime in your life (RARE).
