What Are The Chances Of Getting Pregnant After Using Mirena IUD?
I plan to get my mirena iud removed in a few days and replace it with a new one. The appt. is for 3/21/15. I had unprotected sex on Monday (3/16/15). Is there a chance for pregnancy as soon as the Mirena is removed as sperm can live in the body for up to 5 days?
Yes, there is indeed a chance and during this period it is advised to use an alternate mode of contraception, but there is also a slight chance conception can be prevented. So please keep close track of your cycle and also check for pregnancy using an early morning urine sample with the home pregnancy test 2 weeks since the sexual contact.
Best wishes.
