Thank you for the query.
I would like to know since how long you have been diabetic, what medications you are on and what is the status of your blood sugar control.
Diabetic nephropathy, is a microvascular complication of Diabetes mellitus, and is a important cause of End stage renal disease, specially in the long term, poorly controlled diabetics. Blood and protein in urine may arise due to a number of causes like urinary tract infection (very common in diabetics, associated with/without fever, burning during urination and increased frequency of urine). In case you are still menstruating, assessment of urine sample, within a week of the cycle may show red blood cell in urine. However, sugar in urine may imply that your blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled (exceeding the renal threshold value).
I would advise you to go for certain tests like FBS/PPBS and HbAic (if not done in the previous 3 months). You may go for a 24hrs urine for protein estimation or urine for spot ACR (whichever is convenient). If the results are deranged, you may need to start ACE inhibitor/ARB therapy. You should also go for an ophthalmological examination and diabetic foot care assessment if not already done.
Hope this helps you out.
