Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
i pill is an
emergency contraceptive pill, devised to prevent
pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of
unprotected intercourse. Earlier you take, its protection seems to be better. On an average such pills offers 89% protection. Delayed intake between 48 to 72 hours, the protection drops down to about 58%.
Some of the misconceptions which you have needs to be cleared.
1. Even if ejaculation doesn't happen inside, the sperms present in
pre-ejaculate fluid can cause pregnancy.
2. Within 24 hours if you take urine pregnancy test, it will come negative. Because it takes about 2 to 3 weeks for the hormone beta-HCG to increase and appear in urine.
Anyway, since you say that you have taken it around 72 hours, the pill if it has protected you, you need to get your periods within 3 weeks from the day you have taken the pill.
Otherwise, take a urine pregnancy test to know the status and consult Gynecologist for proper management.
Hope the information provided is clear. All the best.
