What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Taking Misoprostol?
Hello, My wife and I opted for an elective abortion, so she took Mifeprine (mifepristone) 3 tablets on June 8, and Misoprost (misoprostol) 2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets at night on June 10. This was all done under the supervision of her gynecologist. However, we had unprotected sex on June 11, I opted for the withdrawal system of contraception. My wife is worried about getting pregnant. Is there is a chance? Please help. Arup Dutta, Kolkata, India
Hi. I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Actually post abortion it takes minimum of 2 weeks for the ovulation to occur. So unprotected sex after that can increase the chances of pregnancy if your wife has a regular 28days cycle.
In your current scenario, the chances of pregnancy is less. I advice to do a USG pelvis to rule out any retained products of pregnancy if any
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care. Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
