What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Taking Plan B?

I had protected sex last night. However, the condom broke, come to find out this morning that last night was my last day of ovulation, August 5th (my most likely to conceive day). He had not came in my and as soon as I heard the pop he pulled out. We went to a local drugstore and bought plan B. However, Im just now hearing that plan b does not work if you are ovulating or already have. Im freaking out, I'm supposed to be leaving for college in 3 days. How big of a risk do I have/How soon can I take a test and get an accurate result? My period is due August 17th. Please help, I'm only 18.

Hello.

Thank you for contacting HCM.

I have gone through your question and i understand your concern.
If you have taken plan B as directed that is within 72 hours of having intercourse the chances of getting pregnant are quite slim.

As these emergency contraceptive pills have a side effect of disturbing the normal menstrual cycle I would suggest you wait for 10 days at least in case of missed periods and then take a pregnancy test just to be sure.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing your friend good health.
