What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Unprotected Sex?

Hi, I m hoping you can help. I took my period on 11th July (lasted 2 days). On 13th July I had sex (condom split) so I took EllaOne the next day, on 14th July. Stupidly, I then had unprotected sex on 15th (although he didn t actually ejaculate inside me). What is the likelihood of pregnancy? It s now day 17 of my cycle & I m having stomach pains which feels like PMS and pain in my lower back. This is all very out of character for me & I m worried sick. Can you reassure me? Thanks in advance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
EllaOne is morning after pill. It is used as emergency contraceptive pill. This pill needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Since you had already taken the pill once within 24 hours and had sex the next day, the pill should offer you protection against pregnancy. Not only that, the time of having intercourse also says that you weren't in the ovulatory period.
This pill should show its effect by causing withdrawal bleeding and you need to get your periods within 3 weeks from the day you have consumed the pill.
If it is delayed beyond 3 weeks from the day you have taken the pill, you need to seek medical attention immediately.
Since you are saying that you are having pre-menstrual symptoms, you should get your periods shortly, which confirms that you are not pregnant.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
