Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy Through Pre-ejaculatory Fluid?
My boyfriend and I were intimate on day 13 of my cycle (which is on average 30 days long). There was shallow penetration for about a minute or less and no ejaculation. We aren t intimate often, so the chance of any sperm being left from a previous ejaculation is very minimal. Because it s a few days before I m supposed to ovulate, I m wondering what chance there is of me being pregnant, even though penetration was shallow and brief and there was no ejaculation involved.
The possibility of pregnancy can not be ruled out. I can understand your concern.
Pre-ejaculatory fluid contains sufficient number of active and motile sperms capable of fertilizing the ovum and thus pregnancy. Given the fact that you were intimate on Day 13 of your regular monthly cycle which falls in the fertile period (as the ovulation takes place on 13-15 days of cycle), so the chances of pregnancy are high although it was just a "shallow penetration" and of short duration.
So, get the pregnancy test done on early morning urine sample to rule out pregnancy. Hope to have answered your query.
