What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy While On Implanon Implant?
Is there a possibility I could be pregnant? I had the implanon put in 4 months ago and I ve been having sex with my boyfriend without any other contraception and 3 weeks ago I got like a brown/ dark redish discharge and it s been continuous until the last few days it s stopped and now I feel as if I have pregnancy symptoms something shocking and I haven t had them yet since having the implanon put in. A week after I started having the discharge I thought I had an infection(thrush) it was very sore and swollen after we had sex and it stung so I bought an antibiotic and we were still having sex a few days later and that was just over a week ago now so could I be pregnant or what is going on with me? I need to know because if this is just the implanon side effects I want it out! Please help

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Implanon implant is a long acting single hormonal preparation which causes contraception so there is no chance of pregnancy. The symptoms you observe are side effect of hormone (causes absent or irregular periods). Spontaneous bleeding may last for few days. It may be scanty or profuse bleeding.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
