What Are The Chances Of Survival Of A Seventy Year Old In Ventilator?

Hi
My 70 year old mother in law is on a ventilator and has pnuemonia. Her blood pressure is concerning the doctors as is very low. What is the likely hood of her surviving? She has fibrosis due to taking many tablets for many years. She was put on the ventilator 24 hours ago but she is still not responding to treatment

Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM.
I understood your health concerns.
My Impression-
How Long Will She Servive-is a very hypothetical and still philosophical question to be asked on this forum,as it has limitations of available information of the given patients.

Still, Based on facts of your query, Your old Mother seems to suffer from-
Recoverable ILD(Interstitial Lung Disease) with Non-Specific-Interstitial Pneumonia, which have better chance of recovery- as the Pneumonia itself indicates less of fibrosis, which is comparatively amenable to Ventilator Supports and are not prone to deteriorating lung respiration, as with IPF-Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, where the fibrotic part is more wherby, early VILI(Ventilator Induced Lung Injuries) lead to early deterioration from early percolation of the mechanical effects causing Ventilator lung injuries.
AT the experts hands her chances to come are better in the situation submitted by your query.

Hope this resolves all your queries to your satisfaction.
