What Are The Chances Of Survival Of The Baby With 10 Mm Sac In Trans Vaginal Ultrasound?

I went in for an transvaginal ultrasound last week, and the doctor was able to locate the gestational sac, yolk sac, as well as the fetal "pole" with a heartbeat. He didn't say how strong the heartbeat was. The yolk sac, however, measured 10 mm. The doctor said the prognosis is not good. and that we are at an extremely high risk of miscarriage. I am also 41 years old, which I know increases my risk. As you can imagine, my husband and I are both worried out of our minds, and are looking for any information or glimmer of hope we can find. I have read everything I can find on the net, and I haven't seen any cases where the sac was 10mm and the baby survived.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
You have not mentioned the gestational age, 10 mm sac is not the only criteria for the miscarriage, other parameters has to be studied, if no anomalies being detected then you can carry the pregnancy without fear, let the foetus grow well and this will take little more time, just be patience every thing will be fine not need to worry about this, take care of your self and have nice baby.

Hi,
Functon of yolk sac is to nurish fetus in early pregnancy. Theory says enlarged yolk sac means genetic defect/abortion.Still there are reports of pregnancies reaching term & givng birth to normal babies.
So, I would advice you to be positive in thoughts,
Get your pregnancy checked for fetal abm=normality( tripple guard test.)
Get regular pregnancy check up & advice, along with hormonal support, Vitamin E, folic acid, nutritious diet.
Avoid exertion.
Hope for the best & be prepared for worst, with a determination to concure the situation today or tomorrow!
wish you all the best!
Thanks.
