I went in for an transvaginal ultrasound last week, and the doctor was able to locate the gestational sac, yolk sac, as well as the fetal "pole" with a heartbeat. He didn't say how strong the heartbeat was. The yolk sac, however, measured 10 mm. The doctor said the prognosis is not good. and that we are at an extremely high risk of miscarriage. I am also 41 years old, which I know increases my risk. As you can imagine, my husband and I are both worried out of our minds, and are looking for any information or glimmer of hope we can find. I have read everything I can find on the net, and I haven't seen any cases where the sac was 10mm and the baby survived.
