What Are The Chances That My Nearly 3 Year Old Daughter Will Lose Her Hair?
What are the chances that my nearly 3 year old daughter will lose her hair? (she has low risk neuroblastoma) and may need chemo. She has had surgery to remove the tumour, but one of her follow-up urine tests showed that the level of catecholamines was 'raised' so they brought forward her next MRI, which we get the results for this week. Basically if the scan shows anything, even if it's not growing they will give her chemo, they said low dose. I want to know what the chances of her losing her hair are? I know that will be the least of our worries if she has to have chemo, but i want to be prepared for this if it is likely to happen.

There is good chance there will be hairfall after the chemo. Usually the hairs grow back in 2 to 3 months time. Just hope the chemo works and she is safe , hair will grow back. don't worry about the hair

one of the side effects of chemotherapy is hairfall and vomiting. You can avoid it using hair caps which are spcialised to reduce hairfall during chemo. You can ask your doctor about it. Even if she has hairfall it will be temporary and it wil subside soon and her hair wil grow back. I hope i have answered your query. Take care

Hi, My son had stage 4 neuroblastoma, so had a very high dose chemo and lost his hair after his first round of Chemo. I would say that if she has chemo, she will lose her hair. It is a bit of a shock when it happens, my son had fairly long hair, but when it first started to fall out we got it cut very short as there was hair everywhere, If it does start falling out, i would suggest getting her a pixie cut, as it is less shocking when it is all falling out.
Good luck with treatment, My son had the highest risk neuroblastoma and is now 2 years cancer free :)
Oh and also, his hair came back so beautiful, soft and curly, and his eyelashes came back amazingly long and full :)
