What Are The Chances To Get STD From Having Sex With Stranger?

I just received unprotected oral sex from a girl with chapped lips. She was a stranger, a person I only just met. Her lips were very dry and cracked. Contact was brief (maybe 3 -5 minutes). Her dental hygiene didn t seem too good either as she had visible plaque and a dead tooth. I don t know what I was thinking. What are the risks that I contracted an std other than HIV (I know nobody has contracted HIV by receiving oral sex), I am more concerned about herpes, chlamydia etc). If you had to put a number on it, what chance have I got of receiving an std? (0%, 50% etc). And when should I resume sex with my usual sex partner (for her safety)?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Almost all the STD's like gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, syphilis etc can be transmitted through oral sex apart from anal and genital sex.
If the lady in question had one or more of the above, it is likely that she may have passed it to you.
I would suggest that you visit a sexual health clinic for a swab test for gonnorhea and chlamydia. A waiting period of 2 weeks before you go for these test would be advisable else it would be too early to be detectable.
Herpes can be tested earliest at 2 weeks with a blood test (HSV ELISA) to detect for antibodies.
Syphilis too can be tested for with a VDRL/RPR test at about 1 month after the risky sexual encounter.
HIV testing can be done with a screening test (Rapid spot test) at about 1 month after risky sexual encounter and should be repeated again at 3 months to cover for the window period (which is 3 months).
It would be better if you can abstain from sexual activity with your usual partner till you are through all the tests and declared clean.
Regarding the exact percentage risk I cannot put a number to it because most people who practice oral sex also practice other forms of sex i.e vaginal Or anal during the same sexual encounter.

Regards
